The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own natural desire to
dream
.” – Maria Montessori, Italian physician and educator.

Early childhood education consists of both informal and formal education that is provided to
children up to the age of 8. The first few years of a child’s life are the basis of their development
in the future, including the development of social and cognitive skills. This is why well backed
research encourages and emphasizes the importance of early childhood education, as it can
prove to play a big role in the child’s near future.
However, if a child does not receive early childhood education, then it can lead to several
negative consequences which makes the child unable to cope up with the rapid progress of
society. The child does not have any practical and applicatory skills, cannot comprehend
social/affective situations and cannot blend in culturally, thus making him/her a rudimentary
member of the society. It is very important that a child receives early childhood education so
they can become a fully functioning member of the society.
In the pursuit of attaining that vision, AASHA has created and curated unique programs for the
students to assist them in learning and understanding better. The Distance Reading Program
(DRP) aims to ensure that distance doesn’t stop a child from learning; it strives to instill a love
for reading, and boost the confidence of the child. In this distinctive program, a teacher can
teach a student, sitting in any part of India, via just a phone call using resources that have been
devised by the very own team of AASHA. This fosters a personal connection between a teacher
and the student which also ensures that the child is comfortable with learning at a pace in which
they can grasp new concepts and topics. We have approximately 228 volunteers involved in this
exceptional program. Other programs include the Mother and Child Reading Program, and
many such.

We took our first step in providing quality education to children, and since then there was no
looking back. We adopted several schools in Mumbai, Bangalore, Mysore, etc. alongside our
virtual endeavors. We have a team that works from all over India and abroad. We realize how
important early education can be for the youth of the 21st century and give them a platform to
grow. Education is a skill and every child has the right to attain that skill.
